Neotribal
description
Neotribal is a new term that started circulating in the 21st century. It's adopted by western tattooers who are inspired by tribal patterns but want to avoid cultural appropriation.
These designs use aesthetic elements of tribal work from one or more cultures, without directly copying any specific sacred symbols. Since the term “neotribal” is not universally accepted throughout the industry yet, there may be countless neotribal tattoos in existence that aren’t identified as such.
