Description
Kintsugi 金継ぎ is a physical manifestation of resilience. The philosophy behind kintsugi is one that values not only the beauty of an object, but also its imperfections, viewing them as something to celebrate, not disguise. Instead of discarding marred vessels, practitioners of the art repair broken items with a golden adhesive that enhances the break lines. They call attention to the lines made by time and rough use; these aren’t a source of shame. This practice (also known as kintsukuroi 金繕い , which literally means gold mending) emphasises the beauty and utility of breaks and imperfections. Drawing inspiration from the original concept, the tattoo ink reminds us that life’s experiences and adversities carry opportunities for greatness. Source
